Message Regarding the MD Dept of Agriculture Mosquito Control Program

Our neighborhood has again been enrolled in the Maryland Department of Agriculture Mosquito Control Program. Monitors from the Department of Agriculture will conduct testing and surveillance in our neighborhood on a regular basis and treat problem areas as necessary. Based on test results the neighborhood may be sprayed with an Adulticide or Larvicide by the Department of Agriculture. Neighborhood spraying is only conducted if deemed necessary by inspectors and will take place on Wednesday evenings between the hours of 7:00 PM and 2:30 AM. I was told by the Department of Agriculture that this specific time frame for spraying negates any risk to insects that are not an intended target of the spray. Spraying will not be conducted during rain, in wind speeds exceeding 12 mph, or temperatures above 89 degrees Fahrenheit. For your review I have attached the Community Notification Form as well as the Program Exemption Form. If you would like to exempt the area of your home from spraying this form must be filled out in its entirety and sent back to the Department of Agriculture.
