5th Annual S(o)uper Bowl Food Drive

The Good Neighbors Group (GNG: www.goodneighborsgroup.org) is sponsoring the 5th annual S(o)uper Bowl Food Drive next week to benefit local food pantries; Manhattan Beach will again be delivering to the Asbury Church Assistance Network (ACAN). We would love for as many MBCA residents as possible to participate in this fun and worthwhile cause, which is also a friendly competition among neighborhoods.

Manhattan Beach resident Nancy Rando is one of f two co-captains for Manhattan Beach, with 2 collection sites: people can deliver food items next week on the following 3 dates, times, and at either of the 2 locations:
 * Thursday, February 10; Friday, February 11; and Saturday, February 12 (delivery of food to ACAN will be on Sunday, February 13) to
       – 781 Stinchcomb  (porch drop-off anytime)
      – 706 McCann Rd (last house on the left before the Marina, next to the pumping station: garage drop-off 10am-5pm)
While ACAN is happy for any contributions listed on the flyer, they are most in need of diapers size 5 & 6, peanut butter & jelly, soup, baked beans, pancake mix & syrup, baby wipes, and tuna.

Manhattan Beach Clubhouse Closed

UPDATE JUNE 4, 2020: Unfortunately, at this point the Manhattan Beach Clubhouse will remain closed through Stage 2 of the Governor’s reopening plan of Maryland as well. The current directive does not allow for gatherings of more than 10 (ten) people. Once the approved quantity is raised to 50 people, we will revisit the reopening of the clubhouse based upon the standards that must be upheld in order to provide a safe and sanitary gathering area. We are sorry for the effect this will have on your upcoming and potential events.

For more information on the current Executive order please click HERE.

UPDATE APRIL 27, 2020: The Manhattan Beach Clubhouse will be following the timeline of Governor Hogan’s reopening plan. Therefore we will NOT be open for events until he approves gatherings of 50 or more people. We will NOT be able to schedule ANY new events until this declaration has been made.

UPDATE March 16,2020: Due to the directive of Governor Hogan, effective at 5:00 PM this evening, the clubhouse will remain closed until May 11, 2020.

Due to the health concerns surrounding Covid-19, as well as to support the effort of social distancing, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all events held at the clubhouse through the first week of April effective immediately. This will include both community events and private rentals at our clubhouse through the first week of April. We realize this is a huge inconvenience and for that we are extremely sorry. However the health of our residents and the guests that visit the clubhouse are of our utmost concern.

At this time we will not be scheduling future rentals until we can accommodate any of the disruptions that these cancellations inevitably will result in.

We will update this page with any changes, as this is a constantly evolving situation.

Thank you for your understanding

Kid’s Halloween Party – October 29 3:00 PM-5:00 PM

Image may contain: text

Bring your little ones and join us for an afternoon of Halloween tricks and treats! This event does NOT take the place of actual Halloween in our community. This is additional fun for the younger children. Manhattan Beach residents will still trick or treat on Halloween, October 31st.

Activities will include:
Trunk or treat in the Community Center parking lot
A visit from The Great Pumpkin himself!
A Trick or treat bag craft
Pumpkin decorating (foam sticker kits will be provided, BYO-pumpkin)
Kids can play in the playground, and we can all enjoy some good conversation and spooky fun with our friends and neighbors

What to bring:
Wear your costumes (especially the kids, grown-ups are welcome to as well!)
Bring your own pumpkin to decorate
Please bring a snack to share, and BYOB for adults
Candy/small prizes for the Trunk or Treat (enough for up to 50 kids)

Trunk or Treat Info:
The children will use their new trick-or-treat bags to “trunk or treat” in the parking lot. If your child wishes to participate in this, please be prepared with candy to share. Each adult will stand by their car to hand out treats to the kids. Of course, you don’t need to drive to the community center to participate… Use your bike, stroller, or just stand in the lot if you walked there!

Decorate your car for the trunk or treat…the most festive/spooky/creative car will win bragging rights and the Golden Pumpkin trophy!

See you there, ghosts and ghouls!

Little Free Library Has Come to Manhattan Beach

Ribbon Cutting for Little Free Library
at Manhattan Beach Community Center

Friday September 22nd at 6:30pm

Join us for a happy hour and ribbon cutting to celebrate the installation of the new “Little Free Library” at our community center, 742 Dividing Rd.

Little Free Library is a worldwide book sharing and social movement designed to promote literacy, a love of reading, and a sense of community.

The idea is simple- if you see a book you like, take it! After you’re done, return it or pass it on to a friend. If you have a book you’d like to donate and share with other readers, leave it in the library when there is space to do so.

We are so excited for this addition to the community and would like to thank stewards, Robin Schwartz and Erin Oczkowski for all of their efforts.

This event is BYOB. Please bring a snack to share. If you have any questions or wish to help with this project, please contact:

Robin Schwartz: rschwartz25@gmail.com

Erin Oczkowski: ekoczkowski@gmail.com
